2016 UON China Representative Office
On Saturday 30 April the University of Newcastle (UON) celebrated the official opening of its first representative office in China.
In a sector leading first for an Australian university, the UON has partnered with China-Australia Chamber of Commerce in Beijing (AustCham Beijing) to co-locate the new office in Beijing. The office will focus on strengthening UON’s partnerships with universities, schools, governments, alumni, and business and industry networks throughout China.
“This is a very significant day for the University of Newcastle. Our new China representative office cements our engagement with China, Australia’s largest trading partner and one of the world’s major innovation hubs,” said Professor McMillen, Vice-Chancellor and President, UON.
Representatives from the Chinese Ministry of Education, AustCham, partner universities, business and industry, and international agents joined UON alumni and staff to celebrate the opening of the new office.
