October Greetings!
Summer is flying out of China and into Australia! As October comes to an end, we hope that our alumni had a wonderful National Holiday break, and we are really looking forward to celebrating the 2018 Australia China Alumni Awards with you next month!
In October, we were excited to support alumni events hosted by The University of Queensland and Deakin University in both Beijing and Shanghai. We also had a great time celebrating Halloween with our alumni in Guangzhou at our October Happy Hour Drinks!
There’s less than one month left until the Australia China Alumni Association and TOEFL® - 2018 Australia China Alumni Awards Presentation Dinner! This year, to celebrate the 10th Alumni Awards, previous finalists and winners are invited to attend the dinner on Saturday 24th November in Beijing. Please keep following our updates and news to learn more about our annual flagship event.

ACAA Beijing Indoor Climbing 19th October 2018

As Gaston Rébuffat said, ‘We should experience hunger and thirst, be able to go fast, but also to know how to go slowly and to contemplate.’ On 19th October, ACAA organised an indoor climbing activity in Beijing, and it was a fantastic way to get or stay fit, whilst also having a heap of fun with our alumni.
ACAA is determined to provide a wider variety events like these to continue to build our alumni community.

26th October 2018

With Halloween just around the corner, close to 30 guests joined us to celebrate Halloween at Zapata’s. Everyone dressed up in amazing Halloween costumes and a great night was had by all.
There is one more round of the 2018 Monthly Happy Hour Drinks Series in November and we are happy to be teaming up with AustCham-SC, the ACYPI, and the ACYA. We love to see the alumni community in Guanggzhou forming stronger connections – hope to see you there!

UQ Alumni Receptions

On 10th October, we were excited to attend the University of Queensland Alumni Reception in Shanghai. During the event Professor Julie Cogin, Academic Dean and Head of UQ Business School, gave a presentation on her research into the differences in work values across the different generations titled, “Leading the Multi-Generational Workplace: Strategies for High Performance”. The thought-provoking presentation provided UQ alumni with new ideas on talent management strategies for the future, and how consideration of age diversity can accelerate business outcomes. After the presentation, the buffet dinner also gave alumni a lovely opportunity to expand their network and make new friends.
